Wooden Bird Boxes

These boxes are are available with 25mm, 28mm and 32mm entrance holes. Choose the entrance hole size based on the species you would like to attract and/or the species you would like to prevent. If you have no preference, choose a box with a 32mm hole which suits the widest variety of species.
The 25mm hole is suitable for blue tits, coal tits, treecreepers, tree sparrows and other very small birds. Item is sometimes made to order which can take up to 2 weeks.
The 28mm hole is suitable for blue tit, coal tit, marsh tit, tree sparrow, great tit, wren and other small birds.
The 32mm hole is suitable for all common, small hole-nesting birds including, blue tit, coal tit, marsh tit, tree creeper, tree sparrow, great tit, nuthatch, pied flycatcher and house sparrow.
All of the boxes have:
A removable front panel to allow cleaning.
Drainage holes in the base to prevent waterlogging.
Exterior painted with non-toxic, water-based preservatives (available in a selection of colours, see below).
Deep box with a high entrance hole to reduce predation.
Long roof overhang to make it difficult for predators to reach into the box whilst sitting on the roof.
Roofing felt which protects the box from the weather, making it last much longer.
The boxes measure approximately 41cm/16” (H), 14cm/5.5” (W) and 23cm/9” (D).

House sparrows, once a common species are now in decline. House sparrows like to live near other sparrows, preferring the area around the eaves of houses. However many modern houses are not ‘sparrow-friendly’. This bird box can be erected close to the eaves to replicate this favoured nesting place.

Swifts traditionally nested in the eaves and gables of buildings. Modern houses and renovated buildings exclude swifts. These boxes are an easy way to replicate these nesting places.The boxes should be positioned under the eaves or in the apex of a gable. The best spot is at least 5m up and in the shade, with a clear flight path in to the box.The box is approximately 55cm/23" (W), 21cm/8" (T) and 27cm/10.5" (D) (including the fixing battens).

Barn Owl Nestbox for use in barns & other buildings. This design is NOT suitable for outdoor use. Our deep box is much safer for owlets than most designs due to a 46cm (18”) drop from the hole to the bottom. The box is approximately 63cm/25" (H), 54cm/21.5" (W) and 71cm/28" (D) (including the landing ledge). Item is sometimes made to order which can take up to 2 weeks.

Designed for fixing to a tree trunk, this box can also be positioned in a fork providing the entrance is visible to birds flying past.Not generally recommended for fixing to buildings, as a box inside the building is far better (SEE OUR INDOOR BOX).This deep-design box helps to maximise nestling survival.When the young are able to get out they are virtually old enough to fly out of the hole.
